BID*BUILD Gives Timely Insight Into Job Profits

Version 2005.2 Also Puts Attachments at Users’ Fingertips, Cuts Hours Out of the Estimate and Quote Setup Process, and Enables Users to Estimate Multiple Line Items in a Job Simultaneously

TEMPE, AZ – July 31, 2005 – Hard Dollar Corporation, the construction industry’s leading provider of integrated estimating and job control software, today announced the release of version 2005.2 of Hard Dollar BID*BUILD, the company’s flagship software suite for contractors.

Hard Dollar BID*BUILD version 2005.2 includes the ability for company managers and executives to review “estimated profit” across all ongoing projects in real time, the instant that timesheet data is reported from the field. Using the data from the original estimate and actual results gleaned from timesheet data, BID*BUILD can provide a rough estimate of every job’s current profit status, as well as a forecast of expected profit upon completion, immediately.

BID*BUILD’s profit reporting gives decision makers valuable insight into the impact that production and cost variances are having on the job’s expected gross profit. Such estimated profit reports, that might otherwise take several days or weeks to come out of the traditional accounting process, are available immediately with BID*BUILD.

According to Bill Kukurin, president of Kukurin Contracting, a medium size utility contractor serving western Pennsylvania who recently implemented the software, “Because of the basic nature of the accounting process, there is typically a week or more lag time between when the work is performed and when we can get final reports that show how we’re doing. We wanted that lag time to be more like a day, or less.”

Starting at the job level, users can drill down and look at current and forecasted gross profit figures for individual items and accounts. In conjunction with BID*BUILD’s real-time job status reports, managers can identify potential problems on a job while there’s still time to do something about it.

“Real-time job profit analysis is a logical next step for Hard Dollar as we continue to expand BID*BUILD from a system used primarily in the office by estimators and project managers, to a full fledged business performance management system used throughout the organization, from the executive office to the jobsite,” said Alistair Johnson-Clague, Hard Dollar president and CEO.

Hard Dollar BID*BUILD version 2005.2 also includes the ability to attach any kind of digital file to BID*BUILD job folders. Whether that means photos, spreadsheets, documents, drawings, PDF files, or any other type of file, users now have instant access to important information as their jobs go through the bidding and building process.

Among other enhancements, version 2005.2 brings a host of additional improvements that dramatically streamline and automate the estimating and quote setup process – shaving potentially hours out of every bid cycle. Of particular note is the ability to store “standard” quotes from subcontractors and vendors (that can be used to quickly determine expected amounts for materials and subcontracted items), as well as the ability to add crews and resources to multiple, similar items in the estimate at the same time.
