What do you think about social media?
Many say that sites like Facebook or Twitter are designated for teenagers or tech savvy people. Well, social media has transitioned from your teenage daughter’s gossiping tool, to a powerful networking necessity.
According to Facebook, it has reached 200 million users. Those users come from all walks of life and tremendously different backgrounds. Whether it is Holly the housewife to Eddie the estimator, everyone has the same goal: to connect, share, and discuss information.
A recent ENR Article explores the trend of construction firms experimenting with social media, it’s suggested that more and more companies and professionals are joining the bandwagon. While interviewing a spokeswoman from a Scottsdale-based equipment company, she gave the following insight, “We’re not in an industry that would really jump at these social-media opportunities, but this economy is making us do things we’ve never done before and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”
In reality, these sites can be a wonderful asset in the project management industry. Social media is a great tool to gain information on virtually any subject. With a simple click you can connect and converse with another industry expert.
