Hard Dollar Corporation Leverages Microsoft .NET with Release of Innovative Hard Dollar BID*BUILD Software

New version of the infrastructure construction industry’s premier estimating, bidding, and construction management system now available

Tempe, AZ – April 29, 2003, Hard Dollar Corporation, the leading provider of integrated cost estimating and project management software, data, and services for infrastructure contractors, announces the release of BID*BUILD, the next generation of its world-class software. This innovative new version leverages Microsoft .NET technology and is the culmination of the company’s multi-year effort to encompass feedback from thousands of construction estimators and project managers.

Focusing initially on the estimating and bidding functionality, BID*BUILD adds dozens of new features to what was already the industry’s most robust solution, and delivers this broadened functionality within an innovative user interface that takes power, productivity and performance to a whole new level.

Jeff Bailey, senior estimator at Landmark Construction was one of the many contractors that participated in a four-month beta testing program with Hard Dollar. “I am thoroughly impressed by what I see in BID*BUILD,” said Bailey. “There are many, many great new features that really reduce the number crunching, and allow more time for analyzing the bid. Hard Dollar is undoubtedly the most customer-responsive company I've ever seen in our industry.”

Early Adopter of Microsoft .NET
BID*BUILD is one of the first systems available to the infrastructure construction marketplace based on Microsoft .NET, Microsoft's most advanced set of software technologies for connecting information, people, systems, and devices. As a Microsoft Certified Partner, Hard Dollar has worked closely with Microsoft to best utilize Microsoft .NET technologies. "BID*BUILD is an excellent example of the innovative use of Microsoft .NET in a commercially available, mission-critical application," said Don Richardson, director of Manufacturing Industry Solutions at Microsoft. "Hard Dollar was one of the early adopters of Microsoft .NET a few years ago, and with this latest release, it is well positioned to build on its technological lead."

Fast, flexible, and friendly.
While cutting edge technologies have made BID*BUILD faster, more flexible, and more user friendly than ever, the system's mathematical core has been proven over 13 years of widespread use. "Because it is based on customer feedback, BID*BUILD gives infrastructure contractors a no-compromises combination of robust functionality and unprecedented ease of use along with Hard Dollar’s renowned quality and reliability," said Thomas D. Blondi, Hard Dollar president and CEO. "The gap between Hard Dollar and the rest of the pack has widened once again with the release of BID*BUILD."

Among the many new aspects of the system are cost breakdown structures with unlimited levels of detail, fully customizable screens and reports, enhanced operation on networks, global editing, and innovative quantity and cost drivers that make it easier than ever to re-use previous work on new jobs.

While adding new functionality and flexibility, Hard Dollar developers at the same time streamlined the entire estimating and bidding process. Compared to previous versions, BID*BUILD entails up to 70% fewer steps to complete similar operations. Customers that have experienced the new system are enthusiastic. “This release is nothing short of another quantum leap for Hard Dollar,” said Roger Thimm, controller at Wondra Excavating. Herb Kneller, chief estimator at Hanson Aggregates, states, “BID*BUILD is completely flexible, allowing us to customize the information however we need to see it, or however our clients need to see it.”
