Hard Dollar Announces New Partnership with Primavera

Development Efforts to Result in New Level of Integration Between Industry-Leading Estimating and Scheduling Applications

TEMPE, AZ – March 15, 2005 – Hard Dollar Corporation, the construction industry's leading provider of integrated estimating and job control software, today announced a new partnership with Primavera®, the leading provider of resource, project and portfolio management solutions. The partnership is expected to result in an unprecedented level of integration between the two firm’s most popular systems for contractors: Hard Dollar BID*BUILD® for estimating and bidding, and the Primavera planning and scheduling application (formerly P3e/cTM).

The partnership underscores the industry trend to award construction projects based on the strength of the project schedule submitted by the contractor at bid time, instead of merely on the best bid price. Contractors can gain a distinct advantage on bid day by forecasting how changes could affect both the bid price and the job’s schedule. Forecasting will be possible by effectively performing “what if?” analysis through the integration between Primavera and Hard Dollar BID*BUILD.

Traditionally, this type of analysis would require multiple, manual steps to make the same changes in both the estimating and scheduling systems (requiring redundant effort). Alternatively, planners could make the changes in the estimating system, and then export all the data to the scheduling system (generally resulting in the loss of data previously entered directly into the scheduling program).

“Due to forces in the industry, the need to easily share data between estimating and scheduling applications is greater than it ever has been,” said Brad Barth, Hard Dollar’s senior vice president of product management. “Our partnership with Primavera will allow us to fulfill that need in a unique and compelling way, allowing contractors to utilize these two separate systems – with all of their best-in-class functionality – yet share data between them as if they were one application.”

"The integration with Hard Dollar will help Primavera customers maximize the use of their applications by eliminating the need for redundant data entry to both schedules and estimates when preparing a bid,” said Christopher K. Bell, Primavera marketing manager, engineering and construction. “Further, owners will award projects with the confidence their chosen contractor has been proactive in evaluating time-saving alternatives.”
